Client case
FTI, digital strategy, UX, concept and design
FTI turned to us for help anchoring their goals and mission with their digital presence. We were commissioned to develop a web strategy and then create a new website with the aim of realizing that digital strategy. FTI is a company in the recycling industry tasked with ensuring that packaging and newspapers in Sweden are collected and recycled. They are responsible for around 6,000 recycling stations across the country where the public can leave their used packaging and newspapers
The challenge
When FTI came to us they had several different websites, some of which had no original content. They had tried to solve this by linking all sites back to their main website ftiab.se. The fact that FTI did not have a unified face to their target audiences meant that their online communication was both unclear and diluted. Because they had not been exposed to competition until recent years, they needed to secure their partnerships and customer inflow
How did we do it?
We carried out a current-state analysis to get a picture of how FTI worked with their digital presence. In a feasibility study we analysed competitors, interviewed FTI staff and created moodboards to visualize who they were and how they wanted to be perceived. Their website felt outdated, cluttered and full of scattered material that failed to communicate the product properly. Together with the client we identified the website's objectives. The result was a serious but not boring or bureaucratic tone. FTI wants to stand for environmental awareness, a "green feeling", while the website should feel harmonious and calm. In short – they wanted a website that conveyed FTI's guiding words: simplicity, clarity, fact-based and attentive
A sense for recycling
We developed a design with colors, images, callouts and showed how to work with these elements together. A concept and a feeling that demonstrates FTI's mission: the collection and recycling of packaging and newspapers to protect Sweden's environment.
Results
The final result was an easy-to-use website with structured content that is tailored for all platforms. By building responsively, with the site optimized for mobile devices as well as desktop, we ensured that the information is accessible to all visitors regardless of where they are.
With the help of FTI's new website, it is easy to find your nearest recycling station. Information on how to sort your waste at the recycling centres is also easy to find.
