Hemmabutikerna, e-commerce with PIM and Episerver

In 2011 Hemmabutikerna faced several different digital challenges. Besides needing to create the conditions to increase sales and to work proactively with digital campaigns, they also needed to improve brand awareness.

The assignment included:

strategy, concept, design, development in Episerver, Limetta Live Search, PIM (Product Information Management), SEO, Google Analytics and advertising material.

The challenge

Our challenge was to build a more usable website where the customer is always close to making a purchase. Hemmabutikerna also wanted to help their retailers strengthen their digital market positions in the local markets. We solved this by giving the stores their own microsites on hemmabutikerna.se where they can create local campaigns and thereby build a digital relationship with the customer.

We implemented EPiServer, which contributed to increased usability, improved user experience and smart product solutions. All to help the customer make the right purchase decision based on his or her needs

The result

The new digital platform was launched successfully and was then followed by two further major launches.

The result is that Hemmabutikerna have increased control over product and pricing, and the purchasing and marketing staff have a good workflow tailored to their operations.

The home appliance retail chain was then sold by Hakon Invest to the EEL Group. After the acquisition of the home appliance stores, the new owner EEL AB chose to implement Limetta's product information management system (PIM) for Elon, Elkedjan, Elspar, Hemexperten and Vitvarumäklarna.

Technical solution

The technical solution consists of Episerver, Limetta's own Live Search and a PIM system (Product Information Management) Limetta's PIM system was developed and implemented. It enables imports of prices and product data from around 50 different suppliers in various file formats and handles approximately 50,000 items. The PIM also supports Hemmabutikernas' internal workflow where a number of different roles need to approve and work with articles. With a personalized "dashboard" the various editors clearly see their own area of responsibility and what he/she should complete, such as promotional texts, pricing, images, videos, product sheets, etc.
As a tactical support for sales and purchasing, the PIM system is connected to price agents (Prisjakt) where you can view and compare competitors' prices, and to an advanced pricing system that shows various margins relative to different parameters. This enables you to actively work on pricing and ensure you land at the right level. The product management system also supports campaign management, accessories, bundles, giveaways and other product relationships
