Elon, Product Information Management (PIM)

We helped Elon with a tailored PIM solution for the management of hundreds of thousands of items across the group's retail chains for B2C and B2B.

Challenge

We had previously developed and launched a PIM solution (product database) for Hemmabutikerna, which was later acquired by Elon. The existing product database needed to be adapted to Elon's expanded needs, including support for managing multiple chains. Over the years the solution has grown with new features and modules as Elon's business model changes and evolves.

Elon's tailored PIM solution

  • Management of hundreds of thousands of products, product variants, bundled products and chain-specific versions.
  • Imports of products from around a hundred different suppliers as well as from the group's various business systems.
  • Publishes products for the different chains' B2C and B2B shops, price label systems, POS systems and also updates the business systems with basic product data.
  • Products have associated resources that are made available via a dedicated CDN server where, among other things, images are prepared and scaled in the requested formats to deliver high performance.
  • Easy access from the group's intranet with a single sign-on solution
  • The workflow is made visible per role via information panels showing what needs to be done and where the products are located Administrators can easily generate reports with important KPIs on lead times, number of items, missing data etc
  • Provision of information partly via a webservice API and partly internally to other applications within the group via JSON objects that are searchable and retrieved via Limetta LiveSearch.
  • Ability to build DR sheets/promotional magazines with highlighted products and exports of these with product information and assets to e.g. Adobe InDesign.
  • Reports to Excel are easily built via database queries and made available.
  • Using templates and webservice calls, the Swedish Energy Agency’s energy labels are automatically generated based on the product’s attributes and then attached as a resource to the product.
  • Advanced search that, in addition to searching and filtering by static values and fields, also allows searching on the product’s properties and business rules.
