Huddinge Municipality - a more accessible and user-friendly website
Huddinge Municipality can be likened to a complex organization that spans many different activities – from schools and care services to culture, urban planning and the environment. That breadth is reflected on the municipality's website, which needs to gather and make accessible information and services for residents with widely varying needs.
Since 2021 Limetta has been responsible for the operation, maintenance and further development of huddinge.se, built in Optimizely. The work is ongoing and consists both of smaller adjustments and bug fixes, as well as larger initiatives that have improved the site's functionality, accessibility and user experience.

Design uplift with a focus on usability and branding
In addition to the ongoing work, we also carried out a major uplift of UX and design. This included a new homepage with quick links and clear entry points to the most visited pages, new page types and content pages, improved navigation, and a color scheme adapted to the municipality's graphic profile. In addition, features were developed to list and present ongoing projects, which gave the website a more modern appearance and a more user-friendly structure

Audience module
To make the content more accessible we developed an audience module on huddinge.se. It provides visitors with a clear entry point based on who they are – for example a parent, a young person or a relative – and leads directly to relevant support and activities.

Implementation of Cludo Hybrid Search
To make it easier for residents to find the right information, Huddinge Municipality chose to implement Cludo Hybrid Search. The solution combines traditional keyword search with AI-driven semantic search, which ensures users get relevant results even with typos or vague queries. In addition, the search engine aggregated content from both huddinge.se and the municipality’s smaller specialist sites, providing a more comprehensive and user-friendly search experience.

Huddinge Builds
We built the Huddinge Builds section on huddinge.se, where the municipality gathers information about urban development. Here residents can access plans for roughly 20,000 new homes by 2030, developments in Flemingsberg, Kungens kurva, Vårby and central Huddinge, as well as major infrastructure projects such as Spårväg syd and Tvärförbindelse Södertörn. The result is a clear digital entry point to Huddinge’s future.

Accessibility adaptations
Based on an accessibility analysis, we adapted huddinge.se to better meet WCAG requirements. The work included focus styles and focus order for keyboard navigation, color adjustments for contrast, correct use of ARIA roles and updates to scripts such as ReadSpeaker. Overall, the website’s usability was improved for everyone – especially for visitors who use assistive technologies.

Implementation of Cookie Information
To meet the need for transparency and legal compliance, we implemented cookie management on huddinge.se using the tool from Cookie Information. This means visitors receive a clear banner where they can accept or reject cookies, and that no tracking or marketing cookies are activated without consent. The solution stores consents within the EU, follows WCAG standards and gives both the municipality control and residents influence over their own privacy.

Implementation of Matomo
We implemented Matomo on huddinge.se to give the municipality better insight into how the website is used. Unlike Google Analytics, Matomo is a platform that can be run entirely within the EU and provides full control over collected data – an important aspect for public authorities. Matomo ensures that web analytics comply with GDPR requirements and that residents’ privacy is respected, while the municipality gains the same kind of statistics and analysis capabilities as commercial tools.
The collaboration
The collaboration between Huddinge Municipality and Limetta is long-term and structured. Through a joint administration and support organization we can both drive proactive development and handle ongoing matters efficiently. Work is planned and followed up in recurring strategic, tactical and operational meetings, creating clarity and continuity. Thanks to stable staffing and close cooperation we get to know each other over time and can gradually improve both ways of working and solutions — always with residents' needs in focus.
