The Arbitration Institute, redesign in Umbraco CMS

We helped the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Institute (SCC) modernize its website. We developed a visual identity, reorganized the content and built sccinstitute.se responsively on Umbraco, which is an easy-to-use CMS.

The Stockholm Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Institute offers professional dispute resolution for commercial parties and is one of the world's leading dispute resolution institutions.

The project included:

  • analysis
  • concept
  • design
  • development
  • CMS in Umbraco
  • language support
  • illustrations

The project

SCC needed help modernising its website, which at the time was non‑responsive, outdated and did not reflect the updated brand profile. It also had a cumbersome CMS and had accumulated a number of old pages that were no longer relevant.

The challenge

For us at Limetta it wasn't easy at first to understand how dispute resolution through arbitration worked or how it could be presented clearly. In workshops with SCC we ultimately arrived at a shared understanding of the website's objective. An information structure, refined continuously, finally took shape and design and web development could begin.

The concept

The goal was to convey a modern and reassuring feeling that highlights Stockholm as a neutral actor, its long-standing reputation and credibility

The process

The project was carried out by a small team using agile methods, in close collaboration with SCC's client. By adopting a mobile-first approach, we ensured the website would work across all possible screen resolutions. In the project we worked iteratively with an HTML prototype based on a few design sketches that summarized the design language. Further design was developed and decided directly in the prototype, which created close collaboration between the art director and the front-end developer and provided the client with transparency and involvement in the process. The website was developed on the open source CMS Umbraco.

Visual identity

The project involved creating a visual identity for the web, which had been missing until then. We based it on SCC's green brand colour and developed a consistent colour scale and typography.

The charts SCC uses to present its statistics were given a new design that fits the overall aesthetic, and the iconography we developed highlights important sections and entry points.

Solution

How arbitration proceedings work is crystal clear - for a lawyer who works with arbitration.

Step by step

By going through the entire process we ultimately succeeded in understanding it, and thereafter created an interactive guide to convey each step in an arbitration proceeding in a pedagogical way.

What does it cost

A cost calculator was developed to transparently show how much an arbitration or a mediation costs.

More languages

In the design we had to consider that the website would also need to work in Russian, Chinese and English.

We created a complete information architecture and designed clear flows and explanatory sections for their processes. Before & after:
