Client case
Kunskapsskolan's primary schools get a new website with a focus on UX & design
It became a close and enjoyable collaboration when we were commissioned to create a complete redesign of Kunskapsskolan's existing website for their primary school.
The assignment
Kunskapsskolan is characterised by its educational model with a personally tailored education that provides knowledge and skills for the future. The existing site felt somewhat cluttered and there was a need to clarify and simplify the benefits of what they offer. At the same time they wanted a modern, easy-to-navigate website that would feel warm, safe and welcoming.
The assignment included reviewing the UX and design for Kunskapsskolan.se, the websites for the individual primary schools and the corporate site. The goal was to ensure that visitors can easily find relevant information, understand it and then take action.
Challenges and areas for improvement
Together with the client we began by identifying the "problem areas" that existed on the current site. This made it easier to develop a holistic solution that both achieves the measurable goals and serves a clear purpose around things that are harder to measure, but which can be seen as hygiene factors.
Above all, Kunskapsskolan wanted parents to place their children on the school's waiting list. Previously this function was very difficult to find and it did not have a sufficiently compelling design — a "call to action". They also told us that many parents came to their site with a couple of questions such as "Why should I choose Kunskapsskolan?" and "Where are the schools actually located?". As a result, the poor users left the site with even more questions, i.e. they left more confused than informed
This is how we approached the project
The work began with a mapping of problem areas and objectives to be achieved and improved. We conducted a target audience analysis in which, together with the client, we developed a number of user scenarios to better understand the various needs that existed.
The proposed solutions took shape and work on the graphic identity, such as imagery style and tone, began.

With simplified and clarified navigation and structure, we have ensured that relevant information is in the right place. Because several websites with different target audiences were being reviewed, the new content structure needed to clarify the distinction between the various schools and the central content. The navigation therefore varies slightly depending on which website you are on.

A stylish, warm and welcoming website
A varied layout and design that mixes the right components with clear calls to action and quick access points makes it easier for the user to get an overview and to find the right thing more quickly.
By using more descriptive labels we have summarised and packaged the school's message in a more easily understood way. We developed a proposal for visual style and tone with more personal images of people and environments to create a warm and welcoming feel. We also reviewed the pedagogical model and developed a new concept proposal to present the model more clearly and better tailored to the target audience. The result of our joint work is a stylish, warm and welcoming site with natural flows and functionality that guides the visitor to the right place.
