Limetta is an Umbraco Contributing Gold Partner

Umbraco is a powerful CMS (Content Management System) with a flexible, attractive and easy-to-use editor interface. The platform is licensed as open source which means there are no purchase costs or ongoing license fees.

Limetta is one of only two Umbraco Gold Partners in Stockholm. This means our experienced software developers have completed several certification courses with Umbraco in addition to being some of the most seasoned .NET developers in Sweden. In short: we know Umbraco.

Proven platform

With over half a million active installations around the world, Umbraco is steadily growing. In Sweden there has always been a lot of activity around Umbraco, perhaps due to the geographic proximity to Denmark — Umbraco’s homeland. With Umbraco you get access to user and developer forums, annual conferences and continuous version updates, training and certifications.

Umbraco has existed for over 15 years and today employs more than 40 people who are responsible for development, support and the community around the Umbraco platform. Just because it is open source does not mean there isn’t someone steering the project and showing the way forward.

Simple and stylish Umbraco is a global CMS with Scandinavian roots. You can clearly see that in the editor interface. It is clean, stylish and well-structured. For us this is important because a complicated or ugly editor interface impairs the user experience. With Umbraco we don't need to worry about that.
Anyone who works with writing knows how much a text can change from the first draft to the final version. You rephrase, move paragraphs, change headings, cut and paste, shorten and clarify. You also want a CMS that supports this way of working. It should be quick to edit the texts, and you should be able to continuously save half-finished pages and drafts. Umbraco has a good content editor and a fully developed publishing system that makes it possible to save and preview half-finished pages without publishing them. Scheduled publishing or unpublishing is also available If you accidentally delete a paragraph that shouldn’t have been removed, there is built-in history. You can go back in time to view old content and restore anything you deleted by mistake

Image editing

A must-have requirement is that it should be possible to work with images smoothly directly in the CMS. In Umbraco there is built-in support for uploading images by drag and drop. After that you can crop and scale images directly in the CMS. You can also set your own focus point in the image which automated cropping functions can then use to determine which part of the image should be in focus if it needs to be scaled or cropped. No more chopped-off heads or half faces, in other words. In fact, image handling in Umbraco is better than in most other commercial CMSs

Preview

It's always a little nerve-wracking to hit the publish button when you're about to go live with a new page. That's why a good preview feature is almost always in the top-5 list for our clients. Umbraco has a preview that shows how the page will look, not only on desktop screens but across all types of devices

The focal point makes the image scale correctly and responsively

Why Umbraco works so well

  • An organized media library for images, documents and other types of files.
  • Search function for editors, i.e. that in the editor interface you can search for a specific page or particular content.
  • Fully developed page management where you can organize, move, publish, unpublish or delete pages without images or links disappearing or linking incorrectly.
  • A complete system for users, user groups and roles. Delegate responsibility for different websites or sections to different users. Set up workflows for writing, translation, approval for publishing, etc.
  • Versioning. See what changes have been made at the page level and roll back to a previous version if something goes wrong.
  • Form management with logging and case management. Set up forms and build processes for case handling.

Umbraco as headless CMS

Headless CMS means that you only use the editor interface of the CMS and let another system handle the presentation of the information. It can, for example, be used to provide content to a mobile app or a JavaScript-driven web application. Sometimes you want to provide the same content to several parallel applications or platforms at the same time - omnichannel.

For this use case Umbraco works perfectly. Umbraco has no predetermined connection between the information in the CMS and how it should be presented.
