Client case
Bastu.se - brand-building microsite on Umbraco
K-rauta is a building supplies store with Finnish DNA and what could be more Finnish than the sauna?
K-rauta wants to take the position as the leading online authority when it comes to sauna-related questions and products. By both inspiring and educating, bastu.se will become the obvious go-to destination for everything to do with saunas. On bastu.se visitors will find valuable tips, get help and, not least, inspiration for their next sauna project.
The assignment
The website did not primarily need to drive an immediate conversion, but was intended to generously share both knowledge and good advice with devoted and experienced sauna bathers as well as beginners with sauna dreams
The design was to be image-focused for an inspiring user experience. It was also desired that visitors could interact with the site without creating too much editorial work for K-rauta
In the longer term they wanted
- strengthen the brand
- show that K-rauta is an expert supplier
- encourage interaction
Besides concept, UX, design and web development, we delivered keyword strategy and content strategy.

Solution
We developed a responsive design built on strong image and text material for the best experience. We collaborated with a copywriter who wrote the content and our in-house editors worked on the material. We also created a Pinterest account that we administer for the client
To achieve good reach for the site we added an area where visitors can vote for their favorite sauna temperature and share it on social media. The idea was that it would act as a fun conversation starter with a wink
We also came up with a clever logo
To get users to interact we created a feature where you can turn the heat up or down on articles. That way the most popular posts are shown at the top and it also ties into the sauna theme in a humorous way.
